Average Costs of Intervention in Finney County

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been proven to be a very effective prevention program. The approaches to intervention are both more costly and less effective.

To place a child:

Cost of Prevention through Big Brothers Big Sisters Program:

$70.00 per child for summer programs
$425.00 per child to maintain a core or site-based one-to-one match for one year
$80.00 for mentors in classrooms

The benefit of preventing undesired behaviors in children and youth is measured by the healthier children, families, and communities prevention creates. The practice of placing healthy, positive, adult role models with children and youth not only makes a difference to the life of that child, but to his/her family, school, and community. Big Brothers Big Sisters is not a "band-aid" remedy; we do not wait for problems to occur and then react. This program takes positive action to prevent undesired behaviors through adult role models and supervision.
