School Based Mentoring News

School Based Mentoring is underway. We have twenty-one mentors in eight schools. These schools include: Alta Brown, Buffalo Jones, Garfield, Georgia Matthews, Gertrude Walker, Victor Ornelas, and Holcomb Elementary. We also have one mentor serving at Charles O. Stone Intermediate Center after school.

Each mentor serves 2 hours per week working one on one with two students. They are doing a great job and serving over 50 kids.

November Activity

We are having a Family Dinner NOV. 19TH @ 5:00 P.M. at the MEETING ROOM UNDER THE GRANDSTAND (Finney County Fairgrounds).Come and meet the staff members and the Board of Directors.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attn. Board Members:

November 19th there will be a Board Retreat from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

After School Program News

The After School Program at Charles O. Stones is going well. We currently have 75 students signed up. We have three staff members from BBBS, one teacher from Charles O. Stone, and one mentor working from 3:45-5:45 Tues-Thurs. In this program, we have three stations for the kids to enjoy:

Activity station for games & activities
Gym station for playing with gym equipment
Computer station for working in the computer lab or library

Face-to-Face

Our Face-to-Face Program with the Garden City Fire Department has almost completed the fall semester's program. Two shifts of firefighters participated. Everyone is having a great time and learning more about good character. CONGRATULATIONS TO KILY & CHAE for completing the Book of Character!!!!
