1998 in Review

Our agency went through many changes in 1998. We started out the year with one employee-the director and ended the year with 5, including a casemanger, HarvestAmerica volunteer, VISTA volunteer, and a secretary. We said good-bye to our interim board President, Dennis Melgosa (who will be the Vice President for 1999) and elected a new President, Steve Sundberg. The most exciting thing about this year is that we served more children this year since we opened 15 years ago! In our regular one-to-one match program and our school based mentoring program combined, we served more than 500 youth in Finney County. We hope to add another 200 in 1999!

Match of the Month

The match of the month are LB Marcus and BB Bob. They have been matched for over 2 years. They have grown to very good friends. Both Bob and Marcus' mom feel they have seen positive changes in marcus since the match was made. There was a time when Bob's job limited the amount of time he had to spend with Marcus, but they made it through. Recently, Marcus and Bob seem to be closer than ever. They enjoy doing many things together-going to movies, hiking, and shooting rockets. congratulations on your 2 year match anniversary!

Little of the Month

David is the Little Brother of the Month. He has been waiting for a Big Brother for about 9 months. He likes to participate in all the BBBS activities. David is 16 and attends high school. He loves sports and would like a Big Brother who would play basketball and other sports with him, as well as going to games. He lives with foster parents and sees his dad about once a month. If you would like to be matched to David or any of our other waiting youth please call the office. We have many options for matching. Volunteers can be a Big Brother, Big Sister, Couple Match, or a Family Match.
