The Friends of Sandsage Bison Range invites you to take part in adopting a buffalo. When you adopt a buffalo you are helping to keep a legend alive. The Sandsage Bison Range consists of 3,670 acres of sand sage prairie biome and is home to the oldest publicly owned bison herd in Kansas.
In 1924 the state received one bull and two cows from a Oklahoma preserve. This ecological community of grassland is also home to several other species of wildlife such as the lesser prairie chicken, ground squirrels, quail, jackrabbit, deer and box turtles. Wildlife and birds are also iun abundance.
Who is the FOSBR? FOSBR is a voluntary organization dedicated to the protection and improvement of the Sandsage Bison Range. One of the FOSBR's goals is to develop, implement and sustain a system to accomodate the increased demand for tours of the refuge to the general public. By adopting a buffalo your donation will go toward the support and care of the bison. You are the key to our success. The prairie depends on the bison and the bison depend on us and we depend on YOU!
Please act now. Adopt a bison and help us to preserve this legacy so that it will be here years from now for our future generations to enjoy.
