The buffalo herd is the biggest thing on the Refuge but not the only thing. Other animals who inhabit the refuge are the lesser prairie chicken, quail, ground squirrels, jackrabbits and deer. The lake is stocked with trout in the spring and in the fall.Wildflowers and birds are abundant.
The goal of the Friends of Sandsage Bison Range is to develop, implement and sustain a system to accommodate the increased demand for tours of the refuge to the general public.....
