Men Sitting In Front of Windsor Hotel -- old "Here is your country. Do not let anyone take it or its glory away from you. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches, or its romance. The world, the future, and your children shall judge you accordingly as you deal with this sacred trust."

-- President Theodore Roosevelt, Antiquities Act of 1906

Over the past 25 years there have been several attempts on the part of civic-minded persons to draw the public's attention to the importance of preserving the Windsor Hotel. Recently, a serious study of this building was conducted, incorporating a structural survey, a preservation architect's review and a foundation evaluation. The building was found to be structurally sound and worthy of restoration.

The Finney County Preservation Alliance was formed shortly after this study and in light of the findings concerning the hotel, the group selected the Windsor Hotel to receive primary attention of its preservation efforts. What follows is a story of the time and events leading up to the building of the hotel and the fascinating history of this Finney County "landmark."
